City open to meet with vendors’ union after verifying legitimacy

Town Clerk Royston King has stated that the city is willing to meet with the newly-formed Guyana Market Vendors Union, once it provides necessary documentation to verify its legitimacy.

Officials of the union, which was formed on July 28, have said that they have sent two written letters to the Town Clerk for discussions but have received no response.

In one of the letters, dated August 19th, the union indicated to King its intention to engage City Council in a meeting to introduce its executive and discuss several issues, including the seizing of goods, the city’s services to vendors and the relationship between vendors and the city constabulary.
