Essequibo Coast man seeking justice for son after hit-and-run

Sanjai Gowkarran while in the hospital with injuries sustained in the accident

A distraught father has voiced his dissatisfaction with the investigation being conducted by police into a hit and run accident that left his son injured.

Goukaram (only name) told Stabroek News that his son, Sanjai Gowkarran, was injured after he was hit by a car on October 15 at New Road, Charity, Essequibo Coast. At the time, the man said, his son was on his way home but was struck by a car, bearing licence plate number PTT 8441. Witnesses told him it was speeding down the roadway.

According to the father, he was on his way home at the time and witnessed the driver throwing his son off of the vehicle and then speeding off without rendering assistance to Sanjai.
