What’s Cooking is a series in which I address questions you may have about food and cooking but are too shy to ask.

20140809TasteslikehomeLast week, I took a road trip with some friends. The journey was supposed to take us 2 hours each way, making it a total of 4 hours. However, there was traffic congestion on the way back and we ended up taking 4 hours to get back home. Before we headed out we were told that our host might be making Guyanese-style boiled channa. Someone in the group protested saying that that might not be a good idea given that we are going to be in a car for such a long period of time. We all laughed. Good thing we ended up having chicken curry because the 4-hour ride back home could have been very different, depending on how it was cooked.
