Timehri man crashes into utility pole, dies

A man was killed on Sunday morning when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole at Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara.

According Rena Seenauth, her brother, 32-year-old Sankar Seenauth who lived at Lot 151 GAC Old Road, Timheri, East Bank Demerara, left his home around 1 am on Sunday in his car.

She said she had no idea where he was going at that time. “He wasn’t drunk [and had not been] drinking or anything and he left,” she said. Fifteen minutes later, she added, they received a call that he had been involved in an accident.

His parents rushed to the scene where they discovered his lifeless body on the road. He was picked up and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Stabroek News was told by an eyewitness, who did not want to be named, that Seenauth was speeding in his car and had overtaken another vehicle on the road. However, when he tried to re-enter his lane he lost control and crashed into a utility pole.

Seenauth leaves to mourn a seven-month-old daughter, several siblings and his parents.
