Judge to rule on parking meter company’s application to join proceedings

Justice Nareshwar Harnanan is expected to hand down his ruling on May 16, as to whether Smart City Solutions (SCS) can be named a party in the challenge by the New Building Society (NBS) to the by-laws governing the city’s suspended parking meter project.

SCS, the contractor for the project, had previously made an application through its attorney, Stephen Fraser, to be added as a party to the proceedings.

However, Counsel for NBS, Pauline Chase objected to Fraser’s application.

Over the past weeks, preliminary arguments were presented by both sides concerning SCS’s application.

After an in-chamber hearing on Wednesday morning at the High Court in Georgetown, Justice Harnanan adjourned the matter to May 16 for ruling.
