This has been an unusually good week for finding issues to comment upon, but apart from joining those celebrating the success of the 2017 STEM Guyana team, I want to 
focus on two matters – the African Business Round-table and acting Chief Justice Roxane George’s decision in the case relating to the appointment of the chairperson of the Guyana Elections Commission – as they again show that to be effective, any proposed social solution must be carefully aligned to the social context in which it is applied, and in Guyana this demands that special attention is paid to the same old story, i.e. race and ethnicity.
