CH&PA awards winners of 3D model competition

The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) on Friday awarded prizes to technical institutes whose students participated in a 3D model building competition during the recent Housing Solutions and Beyond 2017 Expo.

The test of talent which showcased the architectural work of students from various technical institutes who were tasked with creating a model of a duplex, town house, single elevated house or single flat duplex in time for the expo.

The models, which were made to specific scale, were then put on display at the expo and were judged. The Linden Technical Institute won with its model of a duplex, while the New Amsterdam Technical Institute came in second, followed by the Guyana Industrial Training Centre, Georgetown. Honorary mention was given to the Upper Corentyne Industrial Training Centre. The awards included cash prizes, trophies, books and drawing sets. Some of the model houses built by the students are expected to be displayed at CH&PA’S regional offices across the country.
