The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a vehicular accident that occurred on the Herstelling Public Road on Saturday night, which resulted in a pedestrian first losing a leg, and later succumbing to the injuries.
Initially unidentified, police confirmed yesterday afternoon that the identity of the pedestrian, described as a female of African descent who appeared to be in her late forties, was known, but details would not be released as yet.
According to a press release, the woman was hit by a car bearing licence number PKK 3251, which was traveling south along the eastern carriageway of Herstelling, and allegedly speeding at the time of the encounter.
