Essequibo residents can expect normal electricity supply – GPL

Residents from Anna Regina and Charity in Essequibo, Region Two were promised a normal supply of electricity by the end of yesterday.

Speaking with the Department of Public Information (DPI), the Guyana Power and Light’s (GPL), Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Renford Homer explained that on August 1st the number four cylinder on the aged Wartsila engine experienced a fault putting it out of service.

Homer said  that due to this, just over two megawatts of available capacity was lost, “so there was a load shedding schedule between Anna Regina and Charity. There were some villages between Anna Regina and Charity which received electricity for 12 hours then the other villages received for the remaining 12 hours.”
