Recaptured prisoners create unrest at Camp St jail

Security officials were yesterday morning called to the Georgetown Prison after several recaptured prisoners, who had escaped from the Lusignan Prison pasture in July, started to behave disorderly after their demands to have steak for breakfast were not met.

Acting Director of Prisons Gladwin Samuels confirmed that the unrest began around 10.30am. “The situation is under control. The escapees wanted steak for breakfast and it was not available,” Samuels said.

He referred to the escapees as a few of the prisoners who were recaptured after escaping from the Lusignan Prison pasture. They were relocated to the Camp Street facility.
