Tropical storm warning lifted for T&T

(Trinidad Express) As at 5a.m Tuesday, the Tropical Storm Warning was discontinued for Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and its dependencies.

At sunrise, citizens will begin assessing the extent of the damage done by the system which produced strong winds and heavy rainfall through most of the night.

Flash floods were reported in low lying areas, some homes were flooded, and there were power outages across many parts of the islands as a result of fallen utility poles.

Winds took down trees and blocked several roads.

However, the utilities were maintained in most places with people reporting that they never lost electricity or water supply, or cell phone data coverage.

T&TEC said it would begin restoring power at daybreak.

The worst of the weather was gone by 3a.m.

At 5a,m. the Met Office reported that the system was 160 kilometres west of Trinidad, and tracking over the north east coast of Venezuela.

However, Trinidad and Tobago will continue to see showers and thundershowers through the day.
