Referees Development Officers appointed

Stanley Lancaster makes a point during the Referees Development Officers Training Programme May 20 at the Guyana Football Federation boardroom.

Ten persons have been appointed Referees Development Officers (RDOs) following a training session on May 20th at the Boardroom of the  Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Secretariat.

According to a press release from the GFF, the RDOs will be based in the nine Regional Member Associations (RMAs) and will be primarily responsible for recruiting, training and retaining referees across the country. They include Heatcliff Peters (East Berbice); Ingram Johnson (West Berbice); Abdulla Hamid (Linden); Tyrone Tyrell (Georgetown); Joel Weeks (West Demerara); Vijai Simon (Lethem); Clifton Paul (Essequibo); Leon Stewart (Bartica); Winston Manjit (East Bank) and Natasha Lewis (East Coast).

Among the key areas covered in the session were report writing, the updated FIFA Laws of the Game, the relationship between the role of the Technical Development Officer (TDOs) and RDOs; respective Terms of Reference and the importance of fitness to the referees.
