Day one of the second round of matches in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), Hand-in-Hand Under–19 three-day tournament was abandoned due to rain.
The contest between Demerara and the GCB U17 Select XI, over at the Everest Cricket Club ground, Camp Road, was called off 45 minutes after lunch while the other match between Essequibo and Berbice, over at the Police Sports Club Ground, suffered the same fate.
A visit to that venue yesterday showed several damp spots visible on the outfield.
Umpires, however, indicated that day two will begin 30 minutes earlier at 9:30 hours providing that the weather holds.
