Banks DIH donates water, biscuits to Civil Defence Commission

Banks DIH Limited has donated bottled water and biscuits to the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) in response to the high spring tides over the weekend that left West Coast Demerara villages inundated.

A release yesterday from the company said that the donation of 150 cases of one-litre Aqua Mist, 150 cases of 1.5 litres Tropical Mist and 300 boxes of 3lb biscuits was handed over by Troy Peters Communications Manager on behalf of the Company to Anthony Hope, CDC official on March 3rd at the CDC headquarters at Thomas Lands.

Odetta Giddings, Acting Administrative Manager of the Commission expressed gratitude to Banks DIH Limited for responding in a timely manner to assist residents of the affected communities. Also present were Clive Pellew, Water Beverage Manager and other officials of the CDC.

“We responded immediately after there was a call for assistance as the CDC was forced to set up temporary shelters for residents in West Demerara in light of the flooding. We do hope that the residents will be able to get their lives back together as quickly as possible,” Peters said.
