Four held with guns during stop and search exercises

Police “stop and search” exercises on Monday resulted in the seizure of three guns along with matching live rounds.

Police said around 2.30 pm on Monday, a car that contained three occupants was stopped and searched on the Charity Public Road. As a result, the police found two 9mm pistols, three magazines and 58 live rounds.

Later, around 7.30 pm, in the vicinity of the Highway Base Outpost along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, a minibus was stopped and searched and one of its male passengers was found in possession of an unlicensed .38 revolver along with a live round and a spent shell.

A car was also stopped by another police patrol along the highway and it found an occupant in possession of 63 grammes of cannabis.

All of the suspects are currently in police custody and are being processed for court, police added.
