Ministry says its driver not charged in accident

The Ministry of Public Infrastructure (MPI) today responded to an article published in today’s Kaieteur News dated Friday, December 14, 2018, under the headline, `Infrastructure setting the wrong example’.

MPI said that the article sought to paint the Ministry’s driver in a bad light. MPI said that according to reports received from the Traffic Chief in New Amsterdam, Berbice, the driver of a large truck was charged for failing to stop at the major road of Philadelphia Street and Republic Road and is scheduled to appear in court, while the ministry’s driver was not charged and was released.

As the investigation continues, the Traffic Chief said that a detailed report will be prepared and sent to the Ministry upon the completion of the investigation.
