Post Office continues sensitization campaign with 100 free mailboxes

The Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC), is continuing its mailbox sensitisation campaign, by gifting 100 mailboxes to patrons, and inviting local mailbox craftsmen to have their products displayed at the company’s offices.

On Wednesday, three homeowners were the first recipients of the 100-mailbox-drive, part of a sensitization campaign launched by the GPOC earlier this year. They were reportedly randomly selected following a survey about residents who do not own mailboxes. In the coming weeks, with regards to the other mailbox giveaways, persons will reportedly be randomly selected from across GPOC’s districts.

A release from the Department of Public Information (DPI) noted that a large volume of mail is often returned to the post offices across the country because of the absence of mailboxes. It stated that so far, the GPOC has placed about 1,704 mailboxes at various locations across the country.
