Patentia couple arrested after police search unearths gun, ganja

A Patentia, West Bank Demerara couple was on Thursday evening taken into custody after a search of their home unearthed an unlicensed firearm with a quantity of live rounds and marijuana.

The police, in a press release yesterday, said that ranks of the Force’s Narcotics Branch during an intelligence-led operation, went to the couple’s Patentia Squatting area home and conducted a search.

In the process, an unlicensed pistol with 12 live rounds in a magazine and 325 grams of cannabis, packaged in small-sized Ziploc bags, were found.

They are being processed for court.
