The construction of new holding facilities at the Camp Street Prison is likely to commence in early 2019 as tenders for the reconstruction of the foundation for cell blocks were opened yesterday under the Ministry of Public Security.
A dozen local construction firms yesterday bid to construct the foundation of three cell blocks. Based on the engineer’s estimate, the cost for each construction is pegged at $14.9 million dollars.
The bids were opened at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board at Main and Urquhart streets.
