Fourth man charged with Bourda vendor’s murder

Nya John

A fourth man was yesterday charged with the murder of Bourda Market cheese vendor Troy Ramalho.

It is alleged that Nya John, 20, on August 15th at Robb Street, Bourda, in the course or furtherance of a robbery, murdered Ramalho.

John, who is a vendor at the Stabroek Market, was not required to plead to the capital offence when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. His attorney George Thomas told the court that his client relies strongly on his alibi and made an application for early disclosure of statements. Police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield in response, told the court that only a few statements are missing and three other persons are currently on trial for the same offence.
