Implementation of motions will show programmes are not just for coalition supporters

Dear Editor,

At the last statutory meeting of the Region Six Regional Democratic Council we saw two motions tabled and passed for implementation by the Regional Executive Officer.

The first was transportation for schoolchildren in affected areas and the second was water and electricity subsidies for retrenched sugar workers. The latter motion was unanimously agreed upon by all the councillors present and the other motion was only voted against by Councillor Samuel Fraser.

This is a clear indication to show whether the government which is preaching social cohesion and local democracy can prove that it will practise what it is preaching by granting the approval for implementation.

Also the approval of these motions will all demonstrate that the David Granger programmes (which are funded by taxpayers) are not only for the coalition supporters.

Yours faithfully,

Zamal Hussain

Councillor
