Corentyne retains cycling title by a wheel

District 10’s Abigail Jeffrey, winner of the Girls 25Km Road Race on Sunday, added two gold medals and a silver  to her prizes yesterday at the Cycling Championships staged at the National Park’s inner circuit.

Riding powerhouse, Corentyne (District Six) retained their school’s cycling championship by a wheel yesterday in the National Park after a strong late surge by the pedal pushers of Upper Demerara/Kwakwani (District 10).

The cyclists from Region Six brought their talents to the city and amassed 245 points to highlight Day Two of the 58th National Schools’ Cycling, Swimming and Track and Field Championships.

District Six finished just eight points ahead of District 10 which recorded 237 points.
