Wind measuring station erected

Wind measuring station erected: The Hinterland Electrification Company Inc (HECI) has installed a Wind Resource Measuring Station at Onverwagt, in Berbice. The Public Infrastructure Ministry yesterday said in a press release that the project, which is the result of a collaboration between the Government of Guyana, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), is intended to yield quality wind data, which can be used by wind project investors to develop wind farms along Guyana’s coast. “The Ministry’s expectation is that within one to two years of high-quality data from tall met-masts (60-80 metres height), wind project developers can prepare a bankable feasibility report which can then lead to financing of wind farm projects,” it added. Over the next six months, HECI is to install three (3) more wind towers. (Public Infrastructure Ministry photo)
