Jamaica: 21 year-old man charged for Dr Lynvale Bloomfield’s Murder

(Jamaica Observer) A 21-year-old man has been charged with the murder of People’s National Party (PNP) Member of Parliament for East Portland Dr Lynvale Bloomfield.

The police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), a short while ago identified the accused as Anthony Sutherland of a Buff Bay address in the parish.

CCU said that Sutherland was charged following a question and answer session with investigators.

Sutherland was previously picked by the police up for questioning but was later released and re-arrested after evidence emerged connecting him to scene of the murder.

Bloomfield, whose death sent shockwaves across the country, was stabbed to death at his Passley Gardens home in Portland on February 2.

He was laid to rest on February 23, following a thanksgiving service at the Church of the Open Bible in Port Antonio.
