Over 40 traffic ranks from the seven policing divisions last Saturday completed a one-week training programme.
According to a Guyana Police Force press release, the ranks received training from the Guyana National Bureau of Standards on the use of radar guns and breathalyzers.
The officers were also trained to communicate with members of the public. The communication training session was facilitated by Bonita Hunter, a former lecturer of the University of Guyana, who highlighted the importance of communication and the guidelines of effective communication.
Throughout the one-week programme, facilitators including Deputy Commissioner Paul Williams and Maxine Graham, Assistant Com-missioner Clifton Hicken and Commander of ‘A’ Division Marlon Chapman along with Traffic Chief, Senior Superintendent Linden Isles and deputy superintendent Joseph Jack and Traffic Education Officer Raun Clarke presented to the 40 ranks who attended the training.
At the conclusion of the training, Traffic Chief, Linden Isles commended the ranks for their participation in the programme and warned them of the repercussions if they are to move away from professionalism.
