A fire gutted a bond at Schoonord, West Bank Demerara on Thursday night. The fire, the origin of which remained unknown up to yesterday, was said to have started around 9 pm. Stabroek News understands that the bond had been abandoned for more than four years and there was no electricity connection to the building. There are also no occupied houses near the building, which is mostly surrounded by trees and overgrown weeds.
