Accused ‘school uniform’ bandit remanded over multi-million dollar stick-up

A man was yesterday remanded to prison after he was charged with being one of the two bandits who disguised themselves in wigs and school uniforms and robbed a New Amsterdam businessman of his car and millions in local and foreign currency.

Christopher Rampersaud, 40, who is originally from Canefield, East Canje, Berbice, but gave his address as 110 South Amelia’s Ward, Linden, appeared yesterday before Magistrate Renita Singh at the Albion Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with the March 16th attack.

It was alleged that Rampersaud, while in the company of others and armed with a gun, robbed Robin Busgith of a Toyota  car, valued $1 million, $3.7 million in local currency, US$1,500 and a cellphone.
