Beacons etched their name on the coveted Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Bartica championship trophy, defeating Police 1-0 Sunday at the Bartica Community Centre tarmac.
The grand finale was decided by the burly Whitney Welcome in front of a large and partisan crowd in the 31st minute.
Welcome sparked wild celebrations on the playing area, spotting his effort into the right corner, to effectively seal the title in what was a very physical and bruising affair. It was a bridge too far once again for the lawmen, who lost their second final in three years. They had also lost to Rivers View in a previous final.
