City mayor’s driver expected to face charge over fatal accident

Dead: Mitford Cambridge

The driver of the vehicle assigned to Mayor of Georgetown Ubraj Narine, who is accused of killing Buxton resident Mitford Cambridge during an accident along the Turkeyen Public Road almost two weeks ago, is scheduled to be charged this week.

Traffic Chief Linden Isles told Sunday Stabroek that the driver, a 42-year-old resident of Nonpareil, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was scheduled to appear in court on Friday. However, Isles noted that he was informed that the driver is expected to be charged tomorrow.

The driver was taken into police custody following the accident. He was subsequently released on station bail pending investigation in the accident.
