Essequibo porter remanded over Robb St robbery

An Essequibo man was remanded to prison on Friday after he was accused of stealing close to $250,000 in cash.

Poonam Boodhoo, 43, of Supenaam, Essequibo was remanded after he pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft, which was read by Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

It is alleged that on July 10, at Robb Street, Bourda, Boodhoo stole a handbag valued $7,500 and $242,000 in cash, along with documents which were in the handbag, all amounting to $249,500, from Luana Brass.
