Venezuelan woman accused of currency fraud gets bail

Yumenni Lopez

A Venezuelan national who was remanded on currency fraud charges, has been granted her release on $120,000 bail after a city court heard she is legally staying in Guyana.

Yumenni Lopez was granted $40,000 bail for each of the three charges against her when she appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly last Friday.

Lopez had been remanded to prison after it was claimed that documents she presented to the court were forged. However, at a hearing last Friday, police prosecutor Sanj Singh informed that documents Lopez presented confirmed her legal status.
