Weather partly responsible for power outages

Inclement weather is being blamed for some of the power outages experienced in the city and some parts of the coastland yesterday.

During the course of yesterday, central Georgetown experienced approximately 10 outages.

Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) Public Relations Officer Shevon Sears-Murray told Sunday Stabroek that she could not give a full explanation for the power outages in central Georgetown. She, however, stated that based on reports provided to her, some outages occurred because of the rainy weather conditions.

In addition to Georgetown being without electricity, West Demerara and Berbice also experienced outages.
