Youth gets 18 months for robbing former boss in violent attack

An 18-month sentence was yesterday imposed on a youth who admitted to robbing his former employer of over $500,000 in cash and valuables.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown, Imran Persaud, 19, pleaded guilty to the charge that on June 1st, 2019, at Lot 333 Cummings Street, he robbed Kamran Shaikh of $400,000, US$500 (equivalent to Guyana $100,000) and a DVR, valued at $24,000, and made use of personal violence during the commission of the crime.
