The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT) on Friday officially launched its annual “Pinktober” cancer awareness campaign. The company’s “Pinktober” events are hosted every October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and aims to educate Guyanese on cancer screening, treatment, to raise funds to contribute to the facilitation of and access to screenings, treatment and psychosocial support.  This year, the company is not only focused on breast cancer awareness, as was the case in previous years, and it will place focus on all other cancers.

According to GTT’s “Pinktober” 2019 ambassador Ambika Ramraj, the company remains committed to ensuring that the Guyanese populace has knowledge and access to information on all types of cancers so as to reduce the number of lives lost to the disease.

Throughout the month of October, a number of activities are planned, including a Cancer Care Symposium, the ‘Strike for the Fight,’ a “Pinktober” football match and the 5k/10k Walk & Run which has been the most supported event over the past years in which “Pinktober” has been hosted.
