Cops still awaiting statement from Mon Repos poisoning victim

Balkaran Persaud

Investigators probing the poisoning of a Mon Repos mother and her three-year-old daughter, who were allegedly forced to ingest a poisonous substance on Monday, are still to receive a statement on the events that led to the attack.

‘C’ Division Commander Calvin Brutus yesterday said that investigators were still to speak to the mother, Kavita Persaud, to determine what transpired between her and her estranged husband, Balkaran Persaud, who reportedly forced her and her daughter to ingest poison.

He noted further that while the mother remains in a ward at the George-town Public Hospital, the young girl remains a patient in the Intensive Care Unit.
