No bail for ‘known’ larceny accused

Chris Pollard

A young man, said to be known for committing simple larcenies, was remanded to prison yesterday after being charged with stealing a cellphone.

Chris Pollard, 18, of Lot 83 David Street, Kitty, appeared in the courtroom of Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus on September 16th, when he pleaded not guilty to stealing a cellphone, valued $45,000, which was the property of Sachin Narine, on September 13th at Camp Street, Georgetown.

Police prosecutor Quinn Harris strongly objected to Pollard being released on bail. He informed the court that Pollard is known to the court as he has several pending simple larceny charges in the city courts, and at the Providence Magistrate’s Court.
