Local gov’t commission to challenge ruling on Town Clerk -Mingo

The Local Government Commission (LGC) has by   unanimous vote decided to appeal the ruling of Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall which nullified the dismissal of Georgetown Town Clerk Royston King.

According to LGC Chairman Mortimer Mingo, the commission will be seeking legal advice on the way forward with the appeal.

On September 13th, Justice Morris-Ramlall ruled that the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) which recommended disciplinary action against King, resulting in his sacking, was unlawfully established and all of its decisions were null, void and of no effect.
