US$2M contract signed for 150kW Kato hydropower plant

The Ministry of Public Infrastructure on Thursday signed a contract for the, “Design, Supply and Installation of a 150kW hydropower plant on the Cheung River, at Kato Village, in Region Eight.

“This contract was awarded to B & J Civil Works to the tune of US $2,251,880 and the funding of the project will be provided through the Inter-American Develop-ment Bank under the Sustainable Energy Program for Guyana,” the ministry said in a post on its Facebook page.

“This project is expected to run for a period of 18 months with 12 months defects and liability period after the completion of the project,” it added.
