Youths get bail on robbery, resisting arrest charges

Two young men accused of robbery offences were released on bail yesterday after they denied the allegations.

Shaquille Thomas, 19, of Lot 26 Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara and Shamar Sears, 18, were arraigned before Magistrate Clive Nurse on the charge that each of them, in the company of others, robbed a man of a cellphone.

Thomas, who is a carwash attendant was read two charges. The first charge stated that on September 27th at Robb Street, while he was with others, he robbed Alfred Rodrigues of a cellphone, valued $30,000. The second charge alleges that on the same date at Avenue of the Republic and in the company of others, he robbed Marissa Spencer of an 18 pennyweight gold chain, valued $216,000.
