Barber accused of exposing genitals to customer

Ceon Cantzlaar

A barber charged with exposing his genitals to a customer and touching the woman without her consent was granted bail when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Ceon Cantzlaar was brought before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan who read the charges to him.

The first charge alleged that the accused, on September 24th at the corner of Aubrey Barker Road and Festival City entrance, North Ruimveldt, exposed his genitals to the woman.

It is also alleged that on the very day, the accused touched the thigh of the woman in a sexual way, without her consent.

Cantzlaar denied the allegations. The hearing was held in camera.

The accused was later granted $25,000 bail on each charge and ordered to return to court on October 7th.

Facts surrounding the matter indicate that the defendant was known to the woman since she had used his barbering services about two times prior. On the day in question, the woman made an appointment via WhatsApp, with the accused. While having her hair cut, Cantzlaar allegedly played vulgar music and later took out his genitals and showed it to the woman while attempting to kiss her and touching her thigh. The woman later left the barbershop and received several voice notes from the defendant expressing how sorry he was. The matter was reported and Cantzlaar was arrested and charged.
