Youths On The Rise Guyana in collaboration with Jewan Ka Nritya Dance Group will hold their Cancer Awareness Walk and Seminar next Saturday, October 19, under the theme: ‘Supporting the Fighter, Admiring the Survivor, Honouring the Taken’.

The non-governmental organisation (NGO) was founded last year by youths who wanted to make a difference in the lives of others and is focused on youth development and humanitarian work, targeting families and youths from communities throughout the country with free health care, counselling, tutoring, and mentoring. Youths on the Rise Guyana aims to involve youths in as much community and development work as possible and create sustainable projects and opportunities for the less fortunate. So far, this work has included social projects, training opportunities, human and infrastructural development, medical assistance, domestic violence awareness, educational and recreational activities involving youth development, distribution of food, toys, books, clothing and the hosting of hot meal drives among many others. All activities and events are self-funded by the organisation and sometimes by sponsorship from members of the business community and corporate bodies.
