Million-dollar prize up for grabs in new street football championship

The inaugural Rio Indoor Streetball Championship was officially launched yesterday at the Rio Sports Club and Lounge, Queenstown.

 The round-robin event, which is slated to commence tomorrow at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, will be contested over eight nights and feature 24 teams. The other playing nights are November 16th, 21st, 23rd, 28th, 30th, December 7th, with the grand finale slated for the 14th.  

Winner of the event will pocket $1,000,000 and the championship trophy, with the second place side pocketing $400,000 and the respective accolade. The third and fourth place sides will receive $200,000 and $100,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
