Yassin calls for greater focus on sports in schools

The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) hosted its annual Christmas Social on Friday night which was attended by several heads and members of local federations and Minister of Social Cohesion, Dr. George Norton.

Putting a greater focus on sports in schools and the question of the use of the funds of the Guyana Lottery Company were among the talking points when the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) hosted its annual Christmas Social on Friday night.

At the social which was held at the residence of President of the GOA, K Juman Yassin, the GOA boss declared:“There is no real sports in schools.” He added that in the new year and beyond….“we should try and see how best we can try to change the focus of sports in schools.”

Juman-Yassin, who spoke in the presence of several heads and members of local federations and Minister of Social Cohesion, Dr. George Norton after a buffet dinner then added: “Let us develop in the schools. We need to come together to work as one to see how best we can to offer coaching in a variety of sports.”
