GTA hosting lawn tennis coach’s development course

The Guyana Tennis Association is currently hosting a four-day ‘Play Tennis Course’. 

The course, which began on Wednesday will conclude today.  The four-day programme, according to the body, is focusing on “equipping tennis coaches, potential tennis coaches and teachers with the theoretic and practical skills required for training juniors for tennis.” 

The course is being facilitated by an International Tennis Federation Expert,  Damien Applewhaite.

Applewhaite has been coaching for the past 19 years. He was the first ITF Level Three coach in the English-speaking Caribbean and has been an ITF Team Coach of the COTECC Under-16 team. 

Sessions are being held at the National Racket Centre and consists of both on court and theoretical training and interactions.
