Maverick De Abreu to call final witness in ‘Benjai’ assault trial

Over two and a half years after Maverick De Abreu was accused of assaulting popular Soca artiste Rodney ‘Benjai’ Le Blanc outside the Palm Court nightclub, he is expected to call his final witness when his trial resumes in the New Year.

De Abreu, 27, of Lot 66 Broad and Alexander Streets, Charlestown, is on trial before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. The charge against him states that on April 16th, 2017, at Palm Court, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Le Blanc. He has since been asked to lead his defence and is due on January 21st, 2020, to present his final witness to the court.
