Guyana rolled out the red carpet for newly crowned World Boxing Association (WBA) Gold super middleweight champion Lennox ‘2 Sharp’ Allen upon his return yesterday.

High-ranking officials as well as a number of fans paid homage as the 33-year-old Brooklyn, New York-based boxer flew in six days after a convincing 10-round unanimous victory over Derrick ‘Take it to the Bank’ Webster (28-2, 14 KOs) last Friday at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota.

Looking sharp in a crisp shirt, fedora and jeans, Allen (22-0-1, 14 KOs), in the presence of Georgetown Mayor Ubraj Narine, told those gathered at City Hall that he was “thankful for those that came out to show love.”
