Former educator Pearl Gravesande celebrates her 100th birthday

Surrounded by family, friends and well-wishers, Pearl Gravesande celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday at the Archer’s Home, a release from the Ministry of Education said.

Minister of Education, Dr Nicolette Henry was present to share in the occasion with the centenarian and her loved ones.

Gravesande dedicated 56 years of service to the education sector. Henry, according to the release said that she was honoured to be in Gravesande’s presence to express her gratitude on behalf of herself, the Ministry of Education and the Government of Guyana for the contributions and sacrifices the former educator would have made during her time of service to the sector.

Gravesande taught at the Unity/ Lancaster Government School, Plaisance Government School and the St, Paul’s Primary School in Plaisance.
