Flashback-Vurlon Mills conducting one of his training sessions for the VMTA prior to the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic

With the Covid-19 pandemic forcing a complete lockdown of the local sporting industry, former Golden Jaguars international and aspiring coach Vurlon Mills, has initiated an online and private training session programme for junior players.

This was disclosed following a brief interview with Stabroek Sport yesterday. According to Mills, “Due to the pandemic I think it’s necessary to start the programme and stay connected and to continue training. Staying active because everyone at home doing nothing so I basically do it to keep them connected so the principles of the sport will remain registered.

Mills related that the training sessions which are either online or personal, are geared towards members of his emerging institution, the Vurlon Mills Training Academy (VMTA), an entity which was started in February 2018. He stated, “In online virtual training you don’t get to work individually with players because you don’t have the time due to the sessions being limited in duration and other individuals are also working along, so basically it’s a schedule.”
