Owner of Bagotstown property damaged in accident still to be compensated

The badly damaged fence

More than a month since a reckless driver crashed into his yard at Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara, owner Faizul Razack is yet to have repairs done to his fence and shed as promised.

The May 5 accident also damaged the fence of Razack’s neighbour who lives two lots away. A vacant lot separates the two residences. However, the neighbour’s fence was fixed later the same week as was promised by the errant driver. According to Razack, the driver of the car had showed up at his place hours after the accident intoxicated and with a beer bottle in his hand.

This was the seventh accident to have resulted in damage to his fence and house, the resident said, adding that of the few persons who ever did return to fix his fence, only a bit of patching here and there was done.  In an effort to be adequately compensated, Razack has taken the matter up with the driver’s insurance company.
