UN Secretary General calls for final poll results to be declared swiftly

Following Wednesday’s decision by the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres yesterday called for an announcement of the final results of Guyana’s March 2 polls as soon as possible.

The Secretary-General’s comments were released via his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, in response to press enquiries. “The Secretary-General takes note of the 8 July ruling of the Caribbean Court of Justice, as final instance,” it said.

”He stresses the importance of announcing final official results…to the Guyanese people as soon as possible to end an impasse that has lasted more than four months.
